What is FIREFLIES?
FIREFLIES is a Dutch design company based in Amsterdam. It all began when a group of friends decided to create beautiful and unique travel products. In 2011 we started off with the idea of designing the first intelligent cabin trolley bag, classic in appearance but with a modern twist. We are all frequent travelers in life and we have had a hard time finding products which satisfy our look (fashion) and travel needs. We aim to create products which are functional, innovative, and timeless at the same time. We’re constantly looking to optimize and re-design the adventures technology brings and the quality. During our journey, we discovered that many people around us were looking for these products as well. Not just to really travel, but also to use in their professional lives or just when carrying all is not an option. We like to share our experiences, to inspire you to travel in style and to discover new places (wherever your destination). We hope you do the same with us. Live travelers for live travelers. What are FIREFLIES products made of?
Leather – pure and natural leather and nothing else. That’s the leather we use for our products. By using only vegetable tanning agents and the exclusive utilisation of environmental friendly and non-harmful substances our supplier combines maximum leather enjoyment with the best possible ecological compatibility. Regular analyses as well as the International Association of Natural Textile Industry (IVN) and the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) confirm these facts. The leather we use is an exclusive natural product.
Every skin is unique. The unfinished surface with visible natural marks underlines the natural character of the leather. We think that naturalness mustn’t be hidden and that individuality is a sign of quality. That is why our leather shows marks of a cow life living in bio husbandry and is neither embossed nor sealed with plastics. Its vivid beauty changes with time and the influence of light. Every FIREFLIES product demonstrates the uniqueness of this premium leather; it’s breathable, skin-compatible, eco-certified, has a delightful scent and is vegetable tanned with only fruits from trees used as tanning agents, taking into account not only energy management, water control and safety conditions, but also achieved tanning without the usage of harmful chemicals like chromium.
How do I treat the leather of my FIREFLIES product?
Don’t use any cream or oil. In case of staining, use a dry cloth and rub hard. As your product is made of pure and natural leather, this beautiful bag will show traces of the life that you travel. Depending on the usage, over time a light discoloration might occur, as we don’t use heavy metals in the tanning. The print might fade a bit. But more than anything, the product will carry the proof of the life you travel!
Will the colour of the leather change?
Yes this is possible due to the vegetable tanning process without the use of heavy metals the leather may change over time. The effect depends per colour, which is specified when you select a product and colour in the ‘Collection’ session. We do recommend not to leave your item in direct sunlight.
What can you tell us about the structure of the FIREFLIES products?
We use premium Italian components, customized to enhance the features of our products.

Where are FIREFLIES products made?
All leather goods are hand made in a small family run factory in Italy, where craftsmanship has surpassed from generation to generation. All components are made in Italy as well, from the nickelwork to the zippers and lining. We strive to work together with companies like us; trying to make a difference in all we do.

What is so special about the trolley pullbar?
We have chosen the Maxi Flex technology; a lightweight, flexible pull bar that is extra long to suit all travellers. Maxi Flex provides you with maximum control over your fully loaded bag while on the run. It will refrain your trolley from tilting (hence the ‘wiggle room’ of your pull bar) and it tested to a weight of 30kg.
How much internal space does the trolley bag have?
The FIREFLIES bags can hold up to 30 liters and its components are tested on 30 kilograms of weight.
Does my laptop fit your trolley bags?
The bag can fit laptops up to 17 inches.
Is my FIREFLIES bag waterproof?
The bags are strongly water resistant, however not waterproof.
Will the trolley bag fit in the overhead compartment?
Yes, on all commercial flights.
How do I make a purchase?
•When you know what you are looking for, use the ‘ONLINE’ link under ‘BUY’ in the main navigation menu and select your product. •Once you have found a product, click the ‘ADD TO CART’ below the product and at the next page the ‘PROCEED TO CHECKOUT’ button or you can continue shopping. • If you’re finished shopping, click ‘PROCEED TO CHECKOUT’ and fill in your shipping address and payment information. • Now you can purchase your product(s).
How do I order a bespoke colour?
•When you know what you are looking for go to the ‘SPECIAL EDITIONS’ link under ‘PRODUCTS’ in the main navigation menu and send us an email via the ‘CONTACT US’ link. •Please indicate the colour of your interest and your details and we will contact you as soon as possible.
Can I change my shipping address after I’ve placed my order?
Yes, you can change the shipping address within 12 hours after placing your order. Please send an email to email@example.com.
How will I know if you received my order & when will the payment be processed?
When your order is in stock, you will get a conformation email. If you’ve chosen to pay by credit card or direct banking, the cost will be immediately deducted from your balance.
Can I add items to an existing order?
Yes, you can add additional items to an existing order within 12 hours after placing your order. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Any later than that, you will have to place a new order and pay for separate shipping.
You might be charged duty tax on your product. This depends on which country or, in case of the USA, which state you are in. We cannot be held accountable for these charges. I purchased an item which is now cheaper in the sale, can I have a refund?
Unfortunately this is not possible. Discounts are valid only in the specified period. We understand this can be very frustrating, but this is unfortunately the nature of sale. We hope you’ll understand.
How do I know if an item is in stock?
We unfortunately can’t completely guarantee we have your colour in stock. If this is not the case we will contact you immediately and provide you with an estimated delivery date.
Can I check how my order is progressing?
When your order has been processed, you will receive a track and trace code by email. If the product is out of stock, you’ll receive your track and trace code the moment your product is restocked and sent to you. We will inform you in this case on the estimated delivery date.
What is the delivery process?
• All orders will be processed within 72 hours from the date of order at the shown prices and delivery conditions to the given address. Delivery dates are without obligation. For binding delivery dates a written guarantee is necessary. Please notice that different causes can highly affect the delivery dates. Our products are handmade in Italy and therefore there is a chance that our products are not in stock. If this is the case, we will notify you immediately when you purchase an item at our shop. If not you will be notified by email. • Deliveries to non EU-countries may be subject to taxes, duties, import fees and custom fees. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please contact us by email at email@example.com. For more precise information about the costs involved please contact your local government or your post office. • The advised dates of delivery may change because of events beyond our control. • For countries that are not displayed on the country list, delivery cannot be guaranteed. For further information or to make sure we ship to your country, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. • If a parcel is returned, because the address was incomplete or incorrect, because you refused to accept it or because you didn't pick it up at your post office in time, you will be charged for the shipping costs back to FIREFLIES.
How much shipping costs do I have to pay?
• For Europe shipping costs of an iPad Cover are 11 Euros and Trolley Bags are 50 Euros. • For The Netherlands an iPad Cover costs 4 Euros and a Trolley Bag 10 Euros. • For shipping to other countries in the world charges are USD 21 for iPad Covers and USD 75 for Trolley Bags. • You can check this in the order form after you have entered your address. The shipping costs will be quoted above the total costs. Please check further details in our Delivery standards, which you can find at the bottom of each page.
How long will my order take to arrive?
All orders are being processed within 72 hours from making your order. Shipping time depends on where you live • Netherlands – 1 business day • Rest of Europe – within 2 business days • United States – within 3 business days, with outlying areas taking an additional day. • All other countries – within 5 business days, with outlying areas taking a few additional days. • Deliveries to certain countries may be subject to customs delays outside of our control. We cannot be responsible for any customs or import charges placed on your delivery.
Can I have my order delivered to another address?
Yes on the order form, you have the option of filling in a separate delivery address.
How will my order be delivered?
Your order will be delivered by an established express service by air or road transport. We will inform you of your tracking number and express company by email.
Which countries does FIREFLIES ship to?
We ship to most of the countries in the world. If your country is not on this list, please contact us on email@example.com to see if we can accommodate shipping to you.
How do I register my Trolley Bag?
When you are the proud owner of a FIREFLIES trolley bag, please click the ‘register bag’ button in the top right corner of the menu. You will directly fly into the process.
How do I return a product?
(1) We gladly accept returns within 14 days from the day after you received your order. Shipping charges are not reimbursed. (2) Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number and your return reasons prior to returning your purchases. After written approval from customer service, please return the product(s) to the address displayed on the delivery note. (3) We will control all returned products. All goods must be returned in perfect condition along with a copy of your initial invoice/delivery note with its original package without signs of usage. We will dismiss the returned product if: - The product shows signs of visible use - The product returns without original packaging and/or product tags - The product is damaged as a result of return transport. We reimburse your payment (Duties, taxes and other expenses excluded). In case of return, you will be charged for all shipping charges. (4) If the product is in any way faulty or does not conform to the order placed, we will gladly refund the purchase price paid, the return shipping cost; any customs, duties and goods taxes (upon proof of payment i.e. a receipt), plus the original shipping costs. Likewise, no good will be taken back if it shows signs of damage or interference, such as - Natural wear and tear - Events out of our control e.g. natural disasters - Signs of improper use - Interference by the customer or a third person - Extreme use or extreme influence by the customer. After our approval, the items can be sent to the address displayed on the delivery note. (5) All refunds will be issued based upon the original form of payment. (6) No cost will be covered should the product/s go missing during the return shipping. We advise you to send all items back with a transport company which provides a track & trace service.
Can I return an article for repair?

Can I order items from your website that are not currently in stock?
Yes, in this case you can order the product. We will ship the product as soon as possible. We will inform you on the expected timelines. This might take up to two months.
Can I cancel my order?
Within 12 hours of ordering, you can cancel your order by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. There won’t be any charges. Once the order has been shipped, you will have to pay for shipment.
Do I get a warranty?
• In case of a material defect in the product on our behalf, you have the right to choose a similar product in exchange, to withdraw from the contract or to request a price reduction, within 1 month from the purchase date at email@example.com. All requests are to be confirmed by written correspondence with us. • It is up to you to check the products upon delivery and to notify us within 21 days. Failure to do so will result in a loss of your rights. • Other claims for damages and indemnity are ruled by the provisions of Dutch law and we are only liable for gross negligence and intent. This includes our employees or other staff. Binding law terms are not affected.
